EU proposal for a regulation on deforestation-free products – ISEAL statement

The ProTerra Foundation is an ISEAL[1] Community Member[2] and an engaged stakeholder in the ISEAL Deforestation Working Group which aims at supporting policy makers and businesses in understanding how credible sustainability systems can help tackle deforestation.

ISEAL has released a statement[3] with regard to the recently approved proposal by the European Commission for a regulation governing the sale of specific goods and products linked to deforestation and forest degradation as well as their export from the Union.

Among other things, ISEAL’ statement emphasises the role of third-party certification schemes within the proposed EU deforestation regulation.
