Introducing the ProTerra Regenera Module: Advancing Regenerative Agriculture through ProTerra Standards
The ProTerra Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the ProTerra Regenera Module. Designed to support and scale up the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices, this tool is based on the framework of our existing ProTerra Standards. This module has been developed in response to the growing need for sustainable farming systems that reduce environmental impact, actively restore ecosystems, build climate resilience, and contribute to a sustainable food supply. This module is a valuable addition to our existing ProTerra Standards.
Regenerative agriculture is a transformative farming approach that prioritises soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation. It also significantly reduces reliance on chemical inputs.
Although the ProTerra Standard V5.0 and the ProTerra MRV Standard V1.0 incorporate requirements that are aligned with regenerative agriculture, the Regenera Module introduces further targeted criteria to support the implementation of these practices. This allows organisations to strengthen their commitment to sustainability and increase the adoption of regenerative agriculture within their operations.
The ProTerra Regenera Module applies to any ProTerra Level I economic operator pursuing certification under ProTerra V5.0 or verification under ProTerra MRV. It introduces a tiered recognition system – Bronze, Silver, and Gold – based on the scope and maturity of regenerative practices adopted. The framework is grounded in three fundamental principles: Soil Health, Water Management, and Biodiversity Preservation. These principles promote a holistic approach to regenerative agriculture, recognising the farm as a dynamic, interconnected system.
We would like to invite our partners, certified organisations and the wider agricultural community to explore the ProTerra Regenera Module. Join us in promoting regenerative agriculture as a credible and impactful solution to the environmental and social challenges currently affecting the global food system.
