Sofia Cherepova. Reason: I have question – sometimes it would be easy to answer the quizzes questions if I could see the form of a real audit report, is it possible to see an example?

Participant1) EO buy soys for oil production from few suppliers .
The annual audit should include i process of subcontracted activities) .
Amazon (148 suppliers): √148 = 13 farms
Caatinga (12 suppliers (<16unid!): 20% of 12 = 3 farms
Cerrado (731 suppliers): √731 = 28 farms
Aldo the risks in the different regions could increase the sample size2) First year verification of core suppliers not included in the audit sample – I will look at the internal audit programmes, contracts / terms and conditions and requirements of 6.2.5 and 6.2.6 of the audit protocol. And will audit I and II level of suppliers (selected group), should be finished within 60 days
In case there is a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) was needed for non-core suppliers it must be submitted within 30 days after the last verification audit of the core suppliers. Non-core suppliers must be covered – no less than 80%. In case that non-conformities identified in core suppliers this must be submitted and verified within a maximum of 6 months from the last core supplier verification audit.
There are three ports, and one is responsible for handling 60% of the EO exports to be audited in the first year together with one with smaller operation,. And next year the third port (handling the same product) to be audited.3) We have to verify the different core suppliers within all different groups and to ensure proper representation across regions or operational categories..
a second year audit we verify those sites which have not been visited the year before.
To maintain certification, a recertification audit must be scheduled at least 90 days before the valid certificate expires.Additionally, audits at ports and subcontracted service providers (such as security and cleaning) should be reviewed, since these activities fall under Principle 2 – Human and Labor Rights of the ProTerra Standard..
4) Only 1 ProTerra Certificate should be issued to the economic operator, it will include the EO itself (certified organisation) and its core suppliers that were audited and verified during the audit cycle .

ParticipantFor compliance verification with Principle 4 – Biodiversity Conservation, Environmental Management, and Ecosystem Protection, I would check each indicator (document review, site observation, interviews, and verification of spatial evidence, prior that I will analyze the satellite images (done before December 2008 and current one) before the audit. During the preparation for the audit I will also assess official information to check other ProTerra questions. I will use official docs of the region, country and also international resources in relation to HCV, specially protected areas and threatened species (Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) for Business form IUCN, UNESCO World Heritage Site, sometimes NGOs reports or tools could be useful – WWF, or local ones).
Indicator 4.1 – No Conversion of Natural Ecosystems
I will look at land-use history, satellite imagery (as descried abouve), maps with geo-coordinates and organization boundaries, to guarantee that there were no deforestation after 31 Dec 2008.
Maybe it would require documentation of restoration or compensation measures (if deforestation took place after January 2009–2020), following ProTerra’s Restoration & Compensation Procedure.
Indicator 4.2 – Maintenance and Enrichment of Biodiversity – I will look at
natural vegetation, protected buffer zones, and biodiversity management practices.
If there is Biodiversity Management Plan identifying conservation areas (wetlands e.g.). I will se evidences such as wildlife protection actions and training records
confirmation that there were no hunting or collection of endangered species; reports of any kind proving preserved and restored habitats.
For ethe Indicator 4.3 – Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
I will check: how the organization implemented an ESIA and the associated management plan. But its very difficult in some cases if farm has been operating for a very long time. In this case to apply the ESIA methodology will be very problematic – not way to compare the current and the past status.
in case a new organization or if there were some new constructions/new operations the ESIA reports and environmental permits would be available and applicable.
Records of stakeholder consultations and FPIC with affected communities.
Annual monitoring reports if mitigation actions and continuous improvement were required.
Indicator 4.4 – Environmental Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
I will check: Internal monitoring systems and corrective action tracking, and will collect data on soil, water, biodiversity, use of chemicals. The proving docs also
could be the internal audits reports and actions plans realization if required. Also will check related training records (on environmental protection, conservation, sustainable practices, and etc.)
During the audit I will do the field verification (land condition, that there were no clearing of native vegetation, soil degradation, that buffer zones/strips along water bodies are not damaged). I will also check how the implementation of soil and water conservation plan was realized.
Existence of possible biodiversity areas and established monitoring systems. I will check confirmation of required meeting, decisions and conduct interviews with workers or their representatives.Sofia Cherepova
ParticipantHello! I have a simple question – is there a direct access to the training page, or just through the profile? I can’t see the entire menu. Of course it could be only a mistake on my page

ParticipantHello everyone! Thank you for opportunity to joint your network and the ProTerra Foundation! My name is Sofia, and I was graduated Environmental Science and Environmental Management, currently working as an ISO Auditor at a certification body. I have experience in environmental management in Food Industry and Forestry/Pulp mill Industry, I would like to learn more how the ProTerra certification contributing to sustainability and transparency in the food supply chains, and through this course I also would like to expand my knowledge of this certifications and best practices in the Food sector.
