    1. Sampling:
    Amazon: √148 = 12.16 > 13 farms
    Caatinga: 0.2 x 12 = 2.4 > 3 farms
Cerrado: √741 = 27.03 > 28 farms to be audited “up to the cap of 25”
1 audit at the organization that manages the two ports.
1 audit at the organization managing a port.

    2. The ProTerra certification audit is to take place at the economic operator’s site initially and subsequently (within a maximum of 60 days) at the sites of all core suppliers (selected based on sampling). The certification decision will be made after all core suppliers selected for sampling have been verified (section 6.5).

    3. It is compulsory in the upcoming audit cycle to select core suppliers not previously visited until a full cycle of visits is completed. When planning an audit, the CB must always include the main site when sampling within a group. In this instance, the production site and the other port should be considered.

    4. A certificate shall be issued for the economic operator managing the production site.

I would use Satellite images and/or aerial photography to check compliance with this requirement. Satellite images used for the purpose of assessment of potential deforestation should have adequate resolution. Geoloca- tion of the plot of land is necessary and geo- coordinates shall be provided for the areas under certification, if the commodity is exported to countries requiring such information. For plots of land larger than 4 hectares, the geographical location shall be provided using polygons, meaning sufficient latitude and longitude points to describe the perimeter of each plot of land, if the commodity is exported to countries requiring such information.

In the case of deforestation in disagreement with this indicator and that occurred between 1st January 2009 and 31 December 2020, I would check that the organisation must has taken effective action to restore the area and/or provide adequate compensation for the lost ecosystems and its values in order to be eventually certified. Prior to the audit, I would check the situation, and see if the grower submited to the ProTerra Secreta- riat detailed information on the actions taken and the results achieved. If they havent, I would inform the Certification Body .
