We are pleased to welcome Jana Berschneider to the ProTerra Foundation as Engagement and Policy Manager, starting in October 2025.

Jana brings eight years of experience in agricultural supply chains, certification processes, and the implementation of political regulations. Her expertise spans the entire soy value chain, from cultivation and processing to marketing and consumer engagement, with a focus on transparency, sustainability, human rights, and traceability through robust monitoring and reporting systems.

Since 2023, she has been involved in the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and has actively supported companies in facilitating its application. This work has provided her with valuable insight into the regulatory landscape and strengthened her ability to translate complex compliance requirements into practical, actionable solutions that advance sustainable supply chains.

Jana has collaborated with traders, food retailers, franchises, derivative producers, processors, and NGOs. She has also been involved in initiatives with political actors as well as research and scientific institutions to develop deforestation-free supply chains. By working closely with global stakeholders and Brazilian partners, Jana brings a holistic perspective to the challenges of creating transparent, responsible, and resilient supply chains.

Guided by selected standards, initiatives, and frameworks, Jana is committed to the belief that sustainable and socially responsible supply chains can be achieved and continuously strengthened by collaborating with all stakeholders.

In addition to her experience in the soy industry, Jana is also an expert in palm oil supply chains and certification systems. She is looking forward to advancing ProTerra’s mission to promote sustainability, transparency, and ethical practices worldwide.
