Invitation to Join the ProTerra Stakeholders Council and Standards & Certification Committee

The ProTerra Foundation is committed to transparent, inclusive and collaborative governance in order to promote sustainability in the food, feed and related supply chains. In line with this mission, we are seeking new members to join two of our key advisory and oversight bodies.
Stakeholders Council:
The Stakeholders Council acts as a strategic advisory body for the ProTerra Board of Directors and Secretariat. Its mission is to provide expert input and recommendations on critical sustainability issues. Council members support companies in embedding responsible practices in their operations, offering assurance to consumers through the implementation of the ProTerra standards.
We are looking for individuals who are deeply committed to sustainability and have professional experience across a range of sectors. The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Strategic insight into sustainability, corporate responsibility and governance, particularly in relation to food and feed supply chains;
- Familiarity with multi-stakeholder engagement and advisory processes;
- The ability to provide constructive, high-level guidance aligned with the ProTerra Foundation’s vision and mission.
- Experience of participating in or advising organisations on strategic direction, policy development or sustainability implementation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute meaningfully to collaborative dialogue across sectors and cultural contexts.
Council members are expected to participate in quarterly online meetings throughout the year, actively contributing to discussions, tasks, and strategic recommendations. Ongoing engagement with relevant sectoral and sustainability developments is encouraged.
Terms of Reference – Stakeholders Council
Standards and Certification Committee:
This committee plays a vital role in safeguarding the integrity and robustness of the ProTerra certification programme. Its responsibilities include periodically revising the ProTerra standards, overseeing certification bodies, monitoring scheme implementation, and managing related complaints.
We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications and experience:
- In-depth understanding of the food and/or feed industry, particularly with regard to sustainability, certification and governance frameworks.
- Experience of sustainability standards, including standard-setting, auditing, verification, claims and labelling.
- Familiarity with data management, supply chain transparency and traceability systems.
- Knowledge of environmental, social and occupational health and safety issues relevant to agricultural supply chains.
Although time commitments may vary depending on ongoing activities, members are expected to participate in online meetings 2-3 times a year as part of their engagement.
