Graham Mitchell Executive Director participated in ISEAL’s first DC Event in which Certification leaders are working to evolve their systems rapidly in the face of the changing landscape of sustainability and the need to achieve greater scale. Some stakeholders are saying certification should focus on its core and evolve carefully, while others feel the time is ripe for a full-scale revolution that challenges our assumptions of what certification can and should be doing.
ProTerra participated in discussions around agrochemicals that are increasingly an issue in agricultural supply chains. The sustainability standards like Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Fair Trade are uniting under an IDH sponsored project and pledging to phase-out highly hazardous substances, reducing the overall load of toxic agrochemicals and reducing GHG emissions.
