The possibility of compensatory measures associated to land clearance, from the perspective of ProTerra V4.1, does not exist.

This was one relevant modification of version 4.0 of the Standard in relation to the previous version. As from 4.0 onwards, clearing land with native vegetation for agricultural activity after 2008 ( or before that should a legal requirement exists) impedes certification under Proterra.

The obligation organizations have (under 4.2.1) is to identify and maintain valuable biodiversity within their areas and shall, with the involvement of an external expert, restore areas of natural vegetation around bodies of water and on steep slopes and hills, and other sensitive parts of the ecosystem.

If this is not clear, please let me know.
