Dear all, this is our last Forum and I would like to share with you all a issue I have noted in the answers of some of the quizzes and in the forums ( it does not apply to all participants), but several gave me the impression to be mixing ProTerra v5 and Proterra MRV.

Proterra MRV and Proterra Standard for Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability (v5) are two different and totally independent Standards.

ProTerra Standard for Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability ( typically referred to V5, its current version), defines specific technical requirements in the form of Principles (human rights and responsible labour policies and practices, No use of Genetically Modified Organisms, etc.). It aims insuring that all participants in the supply chain meet the requirements set forth in each of the 10 Principles), It has a Protocol that guides the work of the auditors.

In the MRV, on the other hand, focus on the economic operator´s management system (procedures and practices, roles and responsibilities, etc.), that will help the organization reach a specific objective. In this case the objective is to an adequate managements of an organization’s supply chain to ensure that it is sustainable and free from deforestation. Item 3 of the MRV deals with these management system requirements. Item 4 of MRV, brings a set of technical requirements ( much lesser than for example V5), that aim to guide sustainable practice by suppliers. Compliance with such requirements serves as evidence that the management system of the economic operator is working correctly and that there is no systemic non-compliance on the supplier side that is going undetected by the buyer’s management system.

Is the difference clear?

Also note that MRV has no ban on GMOs, a different cutoff date for deforestation in relation to V5, and the work of the auditor is guided by the Sampling procedure in Annex A and Annex B Verification Protocol ( not the v5 Protocol).
I highly recommend you to check my feedbacks to you on the quizzes and those for the group in the Forums/Case Study and read once more the MRV Standard (forgetting what you night know of V5 – they are different things as I explained before).

I highly recommend you to check my feedbacks to each you ( as applicable) on the quizzes and those for the group in the Forums/Case Study and read once more the MRV Standard.

Any question please let me know.
